When selecting a divers’ watch with the correct type of bezel, you should look for
one which has a one way, adjustable bezel. A bezel is a metal ring which is situated
around the face of the watch, with added point indicators and a zero mark to
identify the starting point. In order to use the bezel, you simply need to turn it until
the zero marks are lines up with the minute hands. In order to calculate your time in
the water, simply look at the indicators on the bezel that the minute hand is pointing
to. Most good quality divers’ watches will come with this type of bezel, so it is a
good indication of quality. The advantage of this form of bezel is that it will only turn
in a counter clockwise direction, meaning that should you inadvertently knock the
watch, it will only move in the opposite way to the minute hand. This in return, will
show that you have been under water for a longer period of time than you actually
have, rather than a shorter time period. A bezel should always be tight enough
that it requires some effort in order to move it around the dial.

Once you have identified the best model for you with these two factors, you can
then contemplate other aspects of the watch such as whether it has a clear face or
luminous dials for example. A dive watch is not just a great investment in terms of
great craftsmanship, but in terms of diving in deep waters, it is a beneficial necessity.

5 : Loss to the Czech Republic Winter Olympics 1998

This would be the first time we would get a chance to see the worlds best players from each country playing in the Winter Olympic Games. Canadian hockey fans had high expectations for a gold medal and nothing less would satisfy. In the semi finals Canada faced the Czech Republic and goaltender Dominic Hasek ( the dominator ). Canada dominated the play in the 3rd period and the overtime. Even though the score was tied , Canada played

the overtime like a team that was down by a goal and desparately looking for an equalizer. I think everyone on the ice , and all the fans watching new that if this game went to a shootout Canada was going to be in big trouble. The Czechs won the shootout and went on to win the gold medal !

 

4: Bench clearing brawl in the World Junior tournament 1987

Canada played Russia in 1987 in a game known as ” the punch up in Piestany “. Russia had already been eliminated from the competion, yet C

anda still had a chance at a gold medal. The game simply got out of control and a fight broke out , then escalated to a bench clearing brawl. The two goaltenders meeting at center ice to join in the action. I am not sure that these kids even knew what they were fighting about. In 1987 we were still in the middle of the cold war , and anti Russian and anti communist propaganda was everywhere. We were told that Russia was evil because they did not have freedom of speech and the government was spyi

ng on the citizens ? Hmm .. that sounds alot like USA today ? Anyay , Both teams were suspended from the tournament and Canada lost any chance of winning a gold medal.

 

3: Winter Olympics in Torino 2006

After winning the gold medal in Salt Lake City in 2002 , Canada looked to make it back to back victories wiht a gold medal in Torino. Canda lost to Switzerland 2-0 , and failed to win a medal. This was probably the worst preformance ever by a Canadian National team.

 

2: The Wayne Gretzky trade 1988

August 9, 1988 , The best player in Hockey history was traded to the LA Kings. Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington sold Canadas’ hockey hero to LA for 15 Million in cash. The trade became knowns as ” a kings randsom “. In the press conference to announce the trade , Gretzky broke down and cried , and the Nation cried along with him.

 

1: Loss to the USA in the World Cup of Hockey 1996

Canada faced USA in the final game of the 1996 World Cup of hockey. Brett Hull opened the scoring for the Americans, ironically Hull is the son of Canadian Hockey legend Bobby Hull. Canada took the lead and led the game until late in the 3rd period when Hull scored a controversial goal that may have been a high stick. The Americans then scored the winning goal just over a minuted later. Brett Hull broke the hearts of Canadian hockey fans across the courtry. For the rest of his career he was booed in every Canadian arena he ever played in.

Is weight really an important factor in horse racing? Does a few lbs really affect the performance of a horse that weighs anything from 700lbs to 1000lbs +?

The answer is of course YES! The official handicappers have been using weight to level the playing field for years and they aren’t idiots. If it was meaningless then they wouldn’t do it!

There are however a few ways we can use the weights to help find a winning horse, for no system is foolproof. When examining the form of a ra

ce, here a few things to keep in mind…

1.The official handicap is determined by the horses last few runs and how well they performed. If they ran well, the weight goes up, if they didn’t, the weight goes down. The weights are not set considering the race the horse will be running today.

2.The longer the distance the more effect the weight has. It’s a lot easier for a horse to run flat out for 5f with an extra 6lbs on his back than it is to carry that extra weight all the way around a 2 m

ile race.

3.Horses stepping up in class will rise in the handicap, but will often carry less weight than their last race due to the higher quality of competition. Look for such horses with high speed ratings, if they have proven they can run faster than most horses in the race, having less weight on their back will give them a significant advantage

4.When considering how much a extra weight will affect a horse compared to its’ last run, look at the differences. Horses that are carrying si

gnificantly more weight than last time out and are stepping up in trip (by at least 2f preferably) are facing a serious challenge. Because these runners are often horses that have done well in their last race they will often have short prices – and are prime candidates for laying.

5.On the other side of number 4, always keep an eye out for horses that recorded a good speed rating on their last race, are carrying less weight than last time out and are stepping down in trip. Not only will they be able to run faster than last time with less weight, but they’ll be able manage the weight they have more easily over the shorter trip. Such horses are often worth looking into as back bets.

Keep these pointers in mind and you will be guaranteed to put yourself at an advantage when picking a horse to bet on. Remember – a well informed punter is a winning punter!

If your workouts are stagnating and you are looking to add a little something extra to your biceps, it might be time to include the incline dumbbell curl exercise to your routine.  This is a terrific overall exercise to accelerate the growth of your arms, especially if you have yet to incorporate it into your workout.  The extra stretch that occurs at the bottom of the movement might be the part of the jump start that your arms need.

To do this exercise you will need a pair of dumbbel

ls and an incline bench.  Because proper form is extra crucial in this exercise, use a fairly light pair of dumbbells.  Partly because of the weight stretching your bicep muscle to its fullest, the incline dumbbell curl works the entire length of the bicep.

Again, use lighter weight and a slow, methodic pace.  As a general rule, situate the dumbbells on your thighs as a resting spot before you launch into the exercise.  Lean your body back so that your back is against the bench that is tilt

ed at a 45-degree angle.  You want you back to remain in this position during the entire exercise.  Now that you back is firmly against the bench, let the weights hand at your sides.

You palms should be facing outward to start and during the entire exercise.  Make sure that they remain that way all through the upward and downward movements.  As you start the upward curl, make sure that you elbows remain pointed at the floor.  In fact, the elbows should be pointed at the floor throughout th

e curl exercise.  If you start to allow your elbows to swing, you are beginning to use your shoulders to help with the lift.  Keep an eye on this part to ensure proper technique.

Curl both dumbbells at the same time.  Curl them until the bicep can no longer contract.  Hold your biceps in that position for a full count of one and then slowly lower your arms to the bottom so that they are completely straight.  Do not rest once the arms are straight.  In stead, start the slow upward movement steadily to the contracted position once again.

At first you will need to experiment with a weight that you can lift between 8 and 12 times, all the while concentrating on maintaining precise form.  If you maintain your focus on the form at all times, the results will become apparent in a relatively short time.  Do three to four sets.  You likely notice that with each subsequent set it becomes increasingly hard to do the same amount of repetitions.  Resist the temptation of swinging the dumbbell up to do more reps.

You may need the first gym session or two to gain full control of the exercise, but once you do, you will feel an increased pump in your biceps and are well on your way to adding both size and definition to both your bicep and your self confidence.
