India vs Australia Battle of the Titans

September 30th, 2010 No comments

[History of the Border Gavasakr Trophy]

Considering the history, a 2 test match series does not adequately give either side the billing they deserve. The sense of spectacle is lost. If Australia fail to adapt to the conditions in the opening test then the series will already be out of their hands. Come the 13th October we’ll probably be none the wiser as to the better team. Players could be forgiven for a lack of motivation in what potentially might be a meaningless series.

Despite

these objections, Australia will certainly be up against it in this series. Between 1996 and today Australia have only won one series in India that of 2004/5. And the last time around India recorded a 2-0 series victory with Ishant Sharma claiming the man of the series. Add into the mix India’s fine middle order and the unfavourable conditions for the quicks and you have an indication as to how unenviable Australia’s preparations are. A gruelling task awaits.

Greyhounds Racing Advice

September 30th, 2010 No comments

Greyhound racing is a sport that started in the mid of 1850s when it became one of the most enjoyed sports enjoyed by a range of spectators. The races were met with a range of challanges. Racing greyhounds came back on track after the Second World War when a group of spectators, one of the largest of its kind for a sport, came together and watched the greyhound racing events. Since then with new mediums of sporting and entertainment derived, there was a downfall in the popularity of grey

hound racing events. Moreover, taxes were put on the betting of racing dogs.

Over the past decade, there have been new developments in the greyhounds racing industry. Development in track facilities, and beter trained greyhounds made the events more enjoyable. The sporting complex that shows greyhounds racing has more superior amenities than in previous years, which keeps the spectators coming back. Special areas for kids keep them good company.

›› ·    Look at any two races and check the names of the dogs on the right side. You will end up seeing repeated names. Which means you should avoid those dogs that came in the last 2 spots. Check the newcomers to the race. If there was a name that came first in the last race, has a chance of wining the next race (the chances are it may come second). Otherwise, it’s time to analyze every other dog the same way. Check their 1/8th call to find results of their last race. Circle the ones which are moving up in their grades.

›› ·    The dogs can end-up in a trouble zone which means they run after other dogs chasing them out of the field and are going to make you a big zero. If the list of names has most troublers, you should pass it. Always remember, what has happened before has a good chance of happening once again and so you should avoid such picks.

Have patience as you will get the feel and understanding of the greyhounds racing as it moves on when you choose a dog to play your bet. It certainly takes some practice and you should probably print this reference material.

Bodybuilding Tips For Effective Chest Training

September 29th, 2010 No comments

We’ve all been asked “how much ya bench?” by a non-trained person about a hundred times in our lives, correct? Perhaps as a result, the chest is the body part that most bodybuilders tackle first when they enter the gym. Many beginner bodybuilders are solely flat bench pressers for the first year or three in the gym, and this is okay for establishing a baseline of muscle for future growth. However, there comes a time for maturing chest training so that a well-balanced chest sits atop y

our upper body. Here are some tips and tricks to follow for complete chest development.

Get the ratios right

You should be training chest with a 3:1 ratio for the incline:flat pressing movements. In other words, if you complete 9 sets of inline barbell presses and dumbbell flyes, you should be completing 3 sets of flat pressing or flyes. Many bodybuilders – particularly those with the standard Weider flat bench at home – don’t complete any incline bench pressing for their first year or two

of training. This creates an aesthetic and strength imbalance which can only be rectified using a 3:1 incline:flat training ratio.

Cable-free

While cable crossovers can provide a great pump and deliver some stimulation to that pectoral-deltoid tie-in, many bodybuilders treat this movement as a mass-gainer. It will deliver a lot of blood to the region and might feel very good, but this movement will not build your pecs in the same manner that flat and incline presses and flyes will. Play with

the cables a few times per month, but stick with the heavy compound movements until you have a well-sized chest and are focusing upon shaping it.

Just a little patience

It may seem confusing to train using this wide variety of chest movements when you’re used to just plugging away on the bench press each workout. Deal with it. Your chest is comprised of a vast network of interlocking mesh of muscle sheets. They need to be hit from many different angles in order to stimulate complete growth.

The 20-rep set

At least once per workout, complete a set containing twenty reps. This will stimulate your slow-twitch muscle fibers (those which are only activated by repetition number 12 or 15) and assure you’re stimulating every possible muscle fiber in the chest region. Most of your day should be hard and heavy, but the 20-rep set should always make the trip!

Train the entire body

You can have a superb chest routine and follow all the rules, but if you’re not training legs or back, you’re going to develop imbalances which can potentially lead to injuries. Utilize a full-body routine, and don’t skip days. If you have weak body parts, it’s usually because you’re not training legs hard enough.

The chest is the centerpiece in most physiques, the place the judges’ eyes first rest when scanning the stage for competitors. Possessing a well-developed chest is imperative for success at even the local bodybuilding level. Follow this tips and tricks, and train hard and intelligently. A powerful chest will follow!

Neck Training For Bodybuilders

September 29th, 2010 No comments

Neck training is very rarely mentioned in most bodybuilding periodicals and websites. Most beginners prefer to focus on chest, arms, and back – the showpiece groups. However, as bodybuilders become more and more advanced, a few trends emerge which facilitate the need for specialized neck training. The use of heavier weights can lead to injuries in untrained areas which receive pressure during movements. Deadlifts, rows, and shrugs all exert tremendous force upon the neck. On the aestheti

c side, a bodybuilder with a complete physique yet very thin neck (read: pencil neck) is going to look silly onstage. As one reaches the upper echelons of competitive training, the symmetry of every muscle group comes into account, including those infrequently mentioned, such as the neck.

The neck can be trained in a variety of ways. Manual resistance is easiest – simply apply pressure to the head with the hand, and flex the neck as you move your head in all 4 directions. Some gyms have neck m

achines, although this is rare. The nautilus 4-way neck machine is very useful for targeting and isolating each side of the neck. Harnesses can be purchased online which allow one to suspend a weight from the head and move through repetitions. Some have found towel resistance movements to be effective. Finally, stationary flexing is useful when no other option is available.

Care should be taken to ensure that neck training does not go overboard. A few notable bodybuilders, including Jeff King,

developed necks so thick and muscular that they actually hurt their aesthetics and placings at shows. A super thick neck draws attention away from the pectorals and creates an illusion of “narrow” in a sport where the goal is to appear as wide as possible. Train neck for strength and aesthetic purposes, but not to the detriment of your competitive physique.

Don't Make the Biggest Mistake When You Are Horse Racing Handicapping for Profit

September 29th, 2010 No comments

Are you handicapping horse races and trying to make a profit from your bets?  You’re not alone.  As the economy worsens, more and more people are turning to wagering on races to supplement their incomes.  Obviously, this is a very risky move and you should really think it through before trying it.

If you must bet on horse races, however, there are certain bets and decisions that you can avoid that will improve your chances of winning.  First of all, do you know what the number one,

don039t make the biggest mistake when you are horse racing handicapping for profit

don039t make the biggest mistake when you are horse racing handicapping for profit

biggest mistake is that people make when handicapping horse races?  Why do people lose money every day at the races?

The answer is that they fail to plan and then follow through on their plan.  That may sound like a simplistic and glib explanation, so let me expand on that idea.  When I say they fail to plan I mean that they do not sit down and write down their goals and what steps they will take to achieve them.  Not only do they not have a written plan, but they don’t follow  a system

.  Can you think of any other business or method of investing that you can succeed at without a plan?  Of course not.

Go to a bank and ask for a business loan and see what they ask you.  The first thing they will say is, “Let’s see your business plan.”  If I went to you for a loan and told you I was going to pay it back off the income from a doughnut shop, you would want some specifics, wouldn’t you?  You’d ask me what I knew about doughnuts and where the shop would be, among other th

ings.

Though this is all common sense, thousands of people go to the race track every day with no system and no plan.  They make bad decisions and react emotionally.  They manage money poorly and when they are broke, they wonder why.  Don’t make the same mistakes.  Make a plan.  Here’s how.

Write down your financial goal.  An example would be, I want to make $500 per week.  Secondly, start thinking about how you will reach that goal.  What are your assets or tools.  For instance, I have a bankroll of $5,000.  I have read several good handicapping books and have learned several systems.  I have a money management plan similar to Kelly betting.

Be specific.  Go into detail about the day to day operation of your enterprise.  How will you choose horses to bet on?  How will you apportion your money?  How will you deal with problems?  Write each answer to these questions on a piece of paper or in a notebook and keep it with you.  Read it daily and update and revise it once a month.

If you follow through on this course, you will be ahead of 99% of the people you see at the races every day.  There are no guarantees when you are handicapping horse races, but I can guarantee you this, if you fail to plan you will fail.

A stressful life affects all your relationships. If you noticed to you do not get along with your family, your colleagues or anybody else, maybe stress has put a mark on your lifestyle. Get rid of stress and you will enjoy spending time with other people, just like in the good old days.

Not only can Self Defense training whip you into excellent shape, it can give you confidence, and give you something else to concentrate on besides work and all the stuff at home that keeps falling apart.

4. Prioritize: Without prioritizing your major assignments you can feel like you are swamped. Life will be easier for you if you get the really tough stuff out of the way first. Procrastinating will only make it harder on you. If you do it all the time you just be one big perpetual ball of stress. It’s not a good idea to put off challenges. Face them head on!

5. Relax: Work is good, but everyone will need a little bit of down time to recover. Step away from your desk at least twice each day for a few minutes. You can use this time to rest your eyes, stretch your muscles, and practice some breathing exercises. All of these things can help melt away stress. Chatting with a coworker or taking a walk around the building can be a nice way to remove yourself from the chaos of the job for a few minutes.

6. Decide: Putting of important decisions is a bad idea. It can clutter up your mind when you should be focusing on other things. When you come to a point where you must make an important decision, devote yourself to the problem at hand. Concentrate on the pros and cons of your available options and resolve to follow through with your best option. Then go at it and see the project through to the end.

7. Delegate: You can’t do it all, even if you want to. You need to use your team members and the people you supervise to help you complete jobs. Communicate clearly with them, letting them know precisely what you need. Then follow up with them at regular intervals to see what they need from you. Ask if they need any clarification and look for warning signs that something might not be like you want it.
