If you look at the big picture, is it safe to bet on a heavy favourite because of a favourable pitching matchup? No! I am not saying not to bet on games with favourable matchups but the tip I am giving you is too not weigh the pitching matchup by big chunk. With 162 games played each season, the game of baseball is a game of steaks. Good or bad, every team goes on big losing streaks and big winning streaks. To make a profit from betting you need to abide by those streaks. Even the worst team in baseball can go on a big winning streak and vice versa.  Teams have gone on 11, 9 and 7 game losing streaks and still won the World Series. The 2000 Yankees went on a 7 game losing streak and still won the World Series. In 2002 Oakland wasn’t considered a big favourite to win the division however due to their 20 game winning streak, that all changed. The best advice I can give you is to never, never, never bet against a streak. If a team is on a 5 game winning streak, don’t bet them to lose. If a team is on a 7 game winning streak don’t bet them to win (why would you). The rule I use is if a team is on a streak of at least 4 games than don’t bet against the streak.
